Ontario Northland is releasing new content to promote the anticipated 2026 new-and-improved return of the Northlander:

"Get ready for the new era of the Northlander," Chad Evans, the CEO of Ontario Northland, said in early May as he updated the progress on the Northlander's return to service at FONOM's 2025 Northeastern Municipal Conference held in North Bay.

It was during that presentation that Ontario Northland teased the computer-generated promotional video on the Northlander above. Ontario Northland also shared renderings of the train sets, new shelters, and planned stations. The trains will feature built-in wheelchair lifts, mobility aid storage spaces, and fully accessible washrooms.
The Northlander will provide southbound service leaving from Timmins and northbound service leaving from Toronto, four to seven days a week, based on seasonal travel demands. There will be 16 stops in both directions.
